US Air Force Tests AI-Powered Drones
The US Air Force is pushing the boundaries with next-gen AI-powered drones designed to be wingmen to human pilots, changing the landscape of modern aerial combat.
๐ฏ Cost-Effective
These AI drones are planned to be produced at a cost of $3M each, significantly less than the $80M F-35 fighter.
๐ฏ Response to rising global tensions
The AI drones are seen as an answer to increasingly advanced air defence systems from adversaries like China.
๐ง Key Insights
The use of AI sparks an ethical debate on the role of humans in conflict and the moral boundaries of machine-enabled warfare.
If a dozen civilians are killed because of AI droneโs incorrect decisions, who would be responsible? The government, the company who supplied the tech, the military official who made the decision, or the programmer who developed the AI?

Tech Releases
๐ OpenAI is launching ChatGPT Enterprise to tackle corporate concerns about privacy and security.
The new version promises not to use chat data for training, offers extra security features, and removes usage caps. The move aims to compete with other enterprise-grade AI options like Meta's Llama.
๐ OpenAI wants teachers to use ChatGPT in classrooms.
They have put out a guide which outlines suggested prompts, information on how ChatGPT works, and tips on its strengths and weaknesses.
๐ป Meta has launched Code Llama, an AI tool that helps you write computer code.
It's kind of like their other tool, Llama 2, and it's free for lots of different things, but it's not completely open-source.
๐จ๏ธ ElevenLabs has launched a new version of their AI that can talk in almost 30 languages.
This is great news for people who make games, write articles, or create content, because it will make it much easier for them to reach people all over the world.
๐ Amazon has started showing short summaries of product reviews, made by AI, to make it easier for you to decide what to buy.
These summaries will first appear on mobile phones.
Research, Ethics etc.
๐๏ธ A U.S. federal judge rules that art generated by AI can't be copyrighted
The reasoning is that there is a need for 'human authorship' to make something copyright-eligible. However, works could still be copyrighted if a human significantly tweaked or arranged the AI's creation.
๐บ Entertainment companies are planning to spend more on AI. This is despite massive protests by >100k artists across Hollywood.
๐ฅ Researchers from Osaka University say that AI can spot things in chest X-rays that doctors might miss.
As the tech gets better, we might see more AI helping out doctors.
๐ง A Canadian woman paralysed for nearly 20 years can now "speak" thanks to AI that reads her brain signals.
Instead of decoding thoughts, the AI focuses on phonemes, the basic units of speech. Impressively, it only needed 39 phonemes to understand any English word.

Write better emails using these ChatGPT prompts
Below are some high quality prompts for 3 common use-cases for writing emails. Copy and paste this into ChatGPT and replace whatโs inside the square brackets -
1. Sales Discovery
Imagine I'm a [Your Role] at [Your Company], and we specialise in [Your Specialty]. I've recently come across [Potential Client's Company], and I'm impressed by [Something Noteworthy].
Draft an email initiating a sales conversation where I express interest in their challenges related to [Specific Area] and suggest how our services could offer solutions.
Make sure to ask for a meeting to discuss this further. Keep the email to [length e.g., 3 short paragraphs] at maximum and keep the tone [candid but professional].
2. Getting a Quote from a Professional
Imagine I'm a [Your Role] interested in [Specific Service, e.g., website design, legal consultation, etc.] from [Professional or Company Name].
Write an email to inquire about a quote for their services. The email should outline the scope of what I'm looking for and ask for a detailed quote and timeline.
Please keep the email to approximately [200-300 words] and maintain a formal, polite tone.
3. Make a job enquiry at a company
Imagine I'm a [Your Role] interested in a [Job Position] at [Company Name].
Write an email to inquire about the job opening, stating my background and skills in [Relevant Areas], expressing my enthusiasm for the role, and asking about the next steps in the application process.
Aim for a length of [200-250 words] and maintain a formal yet engaging tone.
The important thing to understand with all these prompts is that you can always ask ChatGPT to fix what you didnโt like or provide more information.
Treat it like a companion rather than expecting it to do the whole job and it will make you 10x productive.
